How we rank

Every ranking on The Better Buys is built the same way. These are the rules.

The label first

We read each product's own Supplement Facts panel or ingredient list, from the brand or a major retailer, and record every active ingredient with its amount. When a brand hides amounts inside a proprietary blend, we say so, because you cannot judge what you cannot see.

Value is what you get

We judge what each product gives you: how many actives, at what amounts, what it leaves out, whether it is made for every day or only now and then, and what the brand stands behind with its guarantee. Price comes last, once the ranking is set.

Checked and dated

Every ranking carries the date its labels were checked. Labels change, so we recheck them, and when a product changes, its place in the ranking can change too.

How we make money

Some links on The Better Buys pay us when you buy. That never changes a ranking. When a page is made in partnership with a brand, the page says so at the top and in its disclosure.
